In 2003, the Ancillae Domini were founded as a religious community of women who have chosen their name inspired by Mary's "Ecce Ancilla Domini " - " Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord." Its headquarters are located not far from Blindenmarkt. Just like the SJM, the Ancillae Domini emerged from the Catholic Scout Movement. All of the founding members came from the Catholic Scouts of Europe (KPE) and were influenced by Fr. Hönisch.
The community lives by Ignatian Spirituality - all things for the greater glory of God and the sanctification of one's neighbour. The focal points are very similar to the spiritual orientation of the SJM. For this reason, the Ancillae Domini have requested the priests of the SJM for the spiritual direction of their community. This occurs through the celebration of the sacraments, through spiritual encouragement, theological lectures, etc. The members of the new institution bind themselves through the three vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. They live in community, but continue to go to their profession, in this way giving witness of Christ to the world. In addition, a particular focus of the new institute is youth work. Precisely in this area has an extensive and fruitful cooperation arisen between the SJM and the new community.
